Writer's Note : 09.09.07
I've given up on a number of articles. Actually I gave up on a lot of articles due to lack of information to really build the kind of story I was hoping for and the inability to write something that works. With the exception of the Sundin article, once I start working on an article, I have about a 3 day window to finish it or else it'll never get done. Sure I can research and source all I want, but once I start, I have to be able to write it, edit it and publish it quickly.
This is in addition to the fact that I really wanted to write a story that is original to me and only me. Something that others would be able to learn something new when they read it, and if not the readers, then at least me. Hence why I got really excited about the Colaiacovo article, because I never knew about him being voted top defensive defenseman in the OHL. It is also why I loved working on my newest article about the identity of the 07/08 Leafs, because no one has really looked at that aspect in which Maurice is trying to build this team... all the questions seemed to revolve around the goaltenders, the young guns, the prospects, Mark Bell and Jason Blake.
There are so many question I'd love to ask him regarding this one subject, such as how he plans to make the Leafs a tough opponent to play against (under what mold he plans to use - offensive, defensive or just plain tough) and why he feels the Leafs didn't have this last year. If he feels this team identity fits in with how Mats Sundin plays the game, or is it built based on a different player, and also what he himself sees in a tough team. But I have no real contact, but to any who does, please do ask him for me? :)
I'll probably find at least one more thing to talk about this month, but for now, let training camp begin!
